Porches and Patios

Wednesday I messed around the house some. I found this material at Hobby Lobby Tuesday and wanted to make some pillows for outside.
Well, come to find out the spool pin on my sewing machine broken during the move. I will have to order a replacement. However, I wanted my pillows now! Like I said, I feel like I have been nesting this week. I ran to the store and bought some Stitch Witch. It worked perfectly. I chose to make covers so that I could change them out if I want to without buying new pillows. It also allows you to wash them if needed. I used a pattern I found on Pinterest.
Please ignore the clip lamp. I have fans coming Monday, so we will have real light out back. A friend of mine is getting rid of two rod iron chaise lounges and a small table. I told her I wanted them. I'm going to put red cushions on the lounge chairs and make two rectangular pillows for them. I will finally have a real table instead of an old column. I will probably repaint the column and put a plant on it.

I bought this C too, however it was an ugly shaped C so dad fixed it.
I picked up this doormat at Lobby Lobby for $15 with my 40% off coupon. I really think I need a longer one, but it's impossible to find cute ones that are longer.
I stocked up on command hooks and strips today while at the store. I was able to hang my welcome owl on the front door. I want to get tall pots for either side of the door, but this will have to work for now. I put the silk flowers from our wedding in them. I really could use a new doormat for the front porch too. This one has been around back and is losing it's color where people wipe their feet.
I took this picture today driving up the hill. The only way I'm ever going to get a good picture of the front of the house is to climb a tree.
So that's our Spring Break so far. Not much relaxing, but there never really is. I'm helping my aunt with my cousin's wedding Friday and Saturday.

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.

Inspired by Pinterest

I've been wanting to try these Chicken Lasagna Roll-ups I found on Pinterest. Since Kev's been working out of town, I figured it would be a great dish for this week. I could keep some and he could take the rest with him. (I also made Mexican Cornbread too.) Eating out every meal gets old. Anyways. Here is the original recipe. I changed it up some. I mixed together 15 oz. ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, egg, thawed frozen spinach (squeeze water out of it), and chicken (I always use a rotisserie chicken). Seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic, and a little Italian seasoning. I never measure, just add a palmful until it tastes like I want it to.  Mixture I grabbed a handful of the mixture and spread it onto the noodle and rolled it up. Leave a little space at the end so the mixture doesn't gush out when you roll it up. Once all of them are made, I poured the  tomato sauce  I made yesterday over them. I added a little water to my sauce to thin it o...
