Lady

This precious dog came up to Cody's house one day and wouldn't leave. We posted her pictures on the lost and found pages on Facebook and had no luck in finding her owner. He finally brought her to my house. We waited a few more days with no luck. I named her Lady and she would just hang out on the back patio all day. I finally had to make the decision to take her to the Little Rock Animal Village. I may have told them I lived in the city limits so they would take her and she wouldn't go to the county animal control. Little Rock Animal Village has a great reputation for not euthanizing animals. They find adopters or put them on transport north. I cried all the way home. A week or so went by and I saw a video on FB of them putting dogs on a transport to Wisconsin. I saw her getting on. I was happy she was finally going to have a forever home, but I still wanted to check on her. Guess who called the Madison County Animal Shelter! Yep! Me! I gave them a rundown of ...

The Weekend

Looks like my animals spent some time at my parent's house. Playing in the pool. This pool collects all the backwash from the  big pool. Looks like Indy got into something. She survived! Fun night out with the girls. I can't remember the occasion or celebration. Maybe just to be together.

Random Photos

Here are a bunch of random photos from my phone. These are my new boots Kev got me as an early anniversary gift! I absolutely love them! This past week was way too hot for October! This coffee table tray and my console always has a pile of jewelry. Lazy animals the other morning. I didn't got to work, so we all laid in bed longer than usual. I just loved this e-card! This baby showed up at our back door last weekend. We fed him and tried to put him in the pen, but he howled and howled, so we let him out. i posted his picture on a pet lost and found page, but nobody claimed him. He came back to eat a few more nights and we haven't seen him since.

Our Weekend - Part Two

I woke up around 2:00am and Kev wasn't in bed. I heard water running, so I figured he was up getting a drink. Well... It kept running. I got up and Lily had jumped out of the dog shower and turned on the shower. Water was everywhere. I used every towel in the laundry room to mop it up. I didn't have my glasses on so of course I couldn't really see. I threw all the wet towels in the washer. What a mess. I kind of worried about this happening and bought a cap, but since it didn't seem to be a problem we never used it.   Everyone sleeping in. Our bed looks like this every Sunday morning. Perla brought another mouse to the door last night. Sunday afternoon we went tout to Kev's dads to help him cut up a tree that fell.    The dogs went too. They are always so excited to ride. They ran around and got extra muddy and wet.

Our Weekend - Part One

Saturday morning Kev got up early to work. I caught up on my TV shows and cleaning. The animals enjoyed some bed time. I looked up and found this precious baby at my door. I tried and tried to get her to go home but she just stared at me. I finally called the number on her collar and she belonged to the neighbor at the bottom of the hill. He sent someone to pick her up. I felt really bad for her. She's his hunting dog and stays penned up most of the time. I never see her, but hear her howl all the time. Saturday night a friend brought chains and tongs to move these 12 foot logs out of the way. They are ready to take to the mill. We just have to get the pine tree cut into sections. Then we burned another pile of brush and branches. The moon's reflection on the pond was beautiful. This picture does not do it justice.

All About the Animals

They love cuddling on weekend mornings! I love how Lilly has her arm on Kev's leg and Hatfield is resting his head. Lilly enjoying the fire. If we were not around to tell her to move, I swear she would catch on fire. We really need a fire resistant hearth rug. I've been putting this towel down to help with cleanup, it now has burn holes. Perla loves being in the bathroom with me in the mornings. I'm sure she is just waiting for me to feed her because that is all she thinks about. Couch Cuddles

Poor Baby Squirrel

I'm not sure how it happens, but the cat always finds a way to get freaking animals in the house! A snake, a lizard, a baby mouse, a frog, various insects. I know she has something because I find her in a corner playing or the animal is dead on the floor. UGH!! This time it was a baby flying squirrel. She was playing in the corner and all of a sudden I see something scurry across the floor. Of course I jump and scream for Kev. The dogs go over to check it out. I'm yelling for all the animals to come here. Kev doesn't know what he is looking for. The cat insists on trying to climb our fake tree. Kev looks in the top and grabs out a baby squirrel. Somehow it manages to get escape his grip and runs for the bedroom. Kev stops it right before he goes under the bed. We put it outside and notice that one of his legs is hurt. We decide to keep him overnight to make sure he is strong enough for outside life. I get the cat carrier out of the attic, place it in the guest bathroom...

Fall Is In The Air

Fall in in the air! Saturday morning I woke up to a chill in the air. I went on a short run and then stopped by the grocery store. I came home and opened all the windows and made a huge pot of chili while I watched football. The razorbacks are actually winning some this year. GO HOGS! When Kev got home, he cut eh tree that fell a few weeks ago into smaller pieces while I gathered limbs and branches. A few friends came over and we made a huge bonfire. The embers were soaring high in the sky. It was beautiful! When you would throw another branch on, it looked as if it was a volcano erupting. We stayed up chatting until around 1:00am. Sunday we did absolutely nothing! I mean nada! I did get up around 7:00 and fed the animals and had some coffee, but was back in bed at 11:00 and slept til after 1:00. I laid around binge watching Revenge on Netflix. I'm addicted! Kev watched football and napped on the couch. The dogs went from the couch with him to the bedroom with me all day. I lo...

Canning and Freezing

This morning I got up when Kev left for work, you can see from the picture that none of the animals wanted to get up. I dropped the recycling off and headed back home to do a little cleaning.  I had to do something with the green beans we had, so I decided to go ahead and can them.  Step 1- Wash them and snap the ends off.  Step 2- Cut them into small pieces.  Step 3 - Boil them for five minutes.  Step 4- Let them sit in ice water for five minutes to stop the cooking process.  Step 5- Fill the jars.  Step 6- Process the jars in a water bath for 20 minutes.  I got four pint sized jars of green beans.  I did the same blanching process with the squash and zucchini that was taking over my crisper.  But I froze it instead of canning.  I absolutely love doing this type of stuff!! It brings back memories of my dad's mom. They lived next door and had a huge garden. I would alw...

What the Animals Have Been Up To

So... I have been slacking on the ol blog. I've had several posts drafted, but I've not felt like completing them. The other night I was sitting outside and Perla brought me a baby snake! Oh Emm Gee!!! I also found her with this lizard cornered by the front door. I'm not even sure how it got in the house. I'm sure I had a door open. I'm bad about leaving them open, especially when it's nice outside. Doggie Love! Perla's favorite spot. The dogs have been busy digging lots of holes. every mooring when I let them out they run and check them. Not sure what they are trying to find, but some are really deep. I'm going to try to get better about posting things in real time ins tread of back dating. UGH!!

Island Camping on Lake Ouachita

We spent the weekend camping at Lake Ouachita for my birthday! I absolutely love island camping. It's hard to do often unless you have easy access to a boat. My brother bought my grandmother's boat last year, so now we can borrow it anytime. I'm so ready for an SUV! We need the room. Kev's truck is a work truck and is not wextended cab. When we have the dogs with us, Lilly has to lay in the floorboard and hatfiled is in Kev's face. We arrived at Brady Mountain about 5:00, however the battery was dead and had to wait on Spence to bring us his other one. This put us getting out there a little later than we wanted, but we managed to quickly set up camp before we lost all daylight. The sunset on our way to the island.   We quickly realized the geese guarding the island and quacking at the dogs were trying to protect their eggs. This one survived. They cracked open the other one we found. The island had a nice grassy area with thtese beautiful purple...
