The Weekend - Decorating, Cooking, and Yard Work

I've enjoyed Kev not working on Saturdays. We are getting lots done around the house. Of course we could work on the yard everyday and still have tons to do. We are diligently trying to get all of the trees at the bottom of the hill cut up and the limbs burned. Saturday we made two huge piles that are ready to burn. we burned one Saturday night and the other is still waiting. There are several piles of logs that need to be loaded up and taken to the log pile. The wheelbarrow is not an option. There is no way I am pushing it up the hill loaded with logs and I'm not asking Kev to do it either. We really need to purchase a four wheeler and small trailer to move wood and rocks around. As for now we will throw them as close to the road as possible and load them into the back of the truck. I have a couple of decorating decisions to make. The top of the hutch fell off during the move. So we have just been using the bottom part as a buffet. When my aunt was up last weekend she...

I Love Fall!

I added a little fall to our house this weekend. I used the artificial stems and flowers that we used for our wedding.  For the dining room center piece I bought a couple of bags of mixed gourds and added a few stems. I stuck some flowers in the urns by the front door and added a few pumpkins and bought a few mums and some more pumpkins for out back by our bedroom door. We slept in Sunday. It was so nice not to have anything to do. Woke up Thursday morning to a snake in my living room! Perla brought it in. She is no longer allowed to come in and out while we are sleeping. I didn't even notice it in her mouth when I stumbled to open the door at 3:20 in the morning.  Kev helped me take apart three pallets Saturday. I'm going to use them to make a head board for the guest bedroom. I enjoyed our productive yet lazy weekend.

Night Hunting

Perla loves to go outside now, especially at night. She starts meowing to go out at about 9:00 and she doesn't usually come back until sometime between 2:30-5:00. She hits the screen door against the glass on the sliding doors in the bedroom. She even knows what door to find us at. She loves to bring home little surprises. This is one of the baby mice. The one she brought the other night was torn into. I hate to think that she is eating them. She has brought the baby snake, a frog, a lizard, and two mice.

What the Animals Have Been Up To

So... I have been slacking on the ol blog. I've had several posts drafted, but I've not felt like completing them. The other night I was sitting outside and Perla brought me a baby snake! Oh Emm Gee!!! I also found her with this lizard cornered by the front door. I'm not even sure how it got in the house. I'm sure I had a door open. I'm bad about leaving them open, especially when it's nice outside. Doggie Love! Perla's favorite spot. The dogs have been busy digging lots of holes. every mooring when I let them out they run and check them. Not sure what they are trying to find, but some are really deep. I'm going to try to get better about posting things in real time ins tread of back dating. UGH!!

Perla's New Toy

Perla loves her new cat tree. It was definitely a great buy and keeps her from playing and scratching on the furniture.  We put in in the office at first, but she never played on it. Once we moved it into the living room she was fine. I don't mind so much since it is dark brown it goes with everything.

New Furniture

Kev had this amour in his trailer when I met him. It's like 100 plus years old. It needed some work, so his dad refinished it for us! I love it! It's our first antique. He also gave us an old time wash station. We put it in the attic for now since we really don't have the space for it.  Perla's scratching post was wearing out and she was starting to scratch on the couch. I was not having it, so I looked online and a new post was around $30 and I found this condo for $70. Score! She is starting to play on it some and has stopped scratching the couch.   I took the dog kennel out of the shower and just piled pillows and blankets in it for Lilly's bed. She loves it and I just crack the laundry room door. This way Perla can still use her little box and Lilly can't get out. I really want a at door for the laundry room door. my aunt gave me this huge mirror. It's too big for one bathroom and not big enough for the master bathroom, so it will probably...

Cat got your tail?

Pictures of Perla from last week. She's was playing with/biting Hatfield's tail the other morning.  Crawled into Kev's drawer to take a nap.  "Please turn the flash off. It's so bright!"

My Animal's Lives

It's been a while since I've shared animal pictures. So here you go... Perla playing in the shower curtain. The dogs ready to go visit Kev at the job site. My landlords put the sprinkler by the fence, so my yard can get water. My well just won't put out enough water pressure for long periods of time. Watering the yard for more that 15 minutes in a no go. This is how they help. It was next to the dog pen the other day, so I had two wet dogs when I got home. Lilly loved playing in the sprinkler. Just hanging out on the gutter trailer watching Kev change his oil.

A Strange Cat

Just some random photos to show how strange my cat is. I've never known a cat to love table scraps. Well. Mine does. Here she is drinking the milk leftover from my cereal. If you set anything she likes on the table she can't wait to jump up there and get a bite. She loves Kev's lap! I think I move around too much and get up too much for her to sit in mine. She only likes my lap when I'm napping. I was trying to fins a sports bra and thought maybe it had fallen behind the drawer (I have to stuff my drawers so full that sometimes that happens.) When I went back later to replace the drawer, I found her snuggled up sleeping. (Excuse the dust. Really?! Who pulls out their drawers and dusts?) Shopping at Petsmart. We used to have a cat condo for her and she loved it. When the ex and I split I he didn't take it so I sold it in a garage sale. I will get her another one, but probably not until we move. I like both of these. i think she would like the taller one be...

Queen Perla

Perla thinks she is the queen of the house. She is a very vocal kitty and lets you know when she wants something. She does what she wants when she wants. One day I called and called her thinking she was outside. She never came. Fifteen minutes later she appeared, she had been laying in the back room. She heard me and didn't come becasue she didn't want to. Anyways here are some pictures of her over the last couple of weeks. Sitting on the stairs leading to the attic. I left them down a couple of days while I was putting up Christmas. She would climb up and hang out and play in the attic. She wanted attention so she climbed into my lap. Hanging out in Lilly's kennel. This morning she opened the cabinet door in the bathroom and crawled inside to explore. Anytime I leave a cabinet door open she checks it out. the picture on the right is a cabinet in the laundry room. She loves shiny things! Many times I take my ring off and set it on the coffee ta...
