What the Animals Have Been Up To

So... I have been slacking on the ol blog. I've had several posts drafted, but I've not felt like completing them. The other night I was sitting outside and Perla brought me a baby snake! Oh Emm Gee!!! I also found her with this lizard cornered by the front door. I'm not even sure how it got in the house. I'm sure I had a door open. I'm bad about leaving them open, especially when it's nice outside. Doggie Love! Perla's favorite spot. The dogs have been busy digging lots of holes. every mooring when I let them out they run and check them. Not sure what they are trying to find, but some are really deep. I'm going to try to get better about posting things in real time ins tread of back dating. UGH!!

Doggie Bath Time

I finally used the dog shower!! I love it! It's so much easier than having to coax them into the bathtub. Then once they are in there, having to fill up a large cup over and over in order to rinse them. Lilly jumped up with no problem. It is her bed and she likes it up there. Hatfield had to be bribed with turkey. Every dog owner should have a dog shower! Especially for large dogs.

More Snow!!!

Saturday morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow! We have three beautiful views on top of our little hill.  Two are of water. The other is the horse pasture in the valley. Our unfinished back of the house. Hopefully with temps about 40 this weekend we can get in done! The dogs loved the snow! They ran around like little kids. Lilly kept eating it. Pretty sure she was wondering where her water was. We came in to warm up by the fire. Everyone loves to lay with daddy. After a nice nap, we went back out to build a snowman and throw the occasional snowball. We had so much fun playing in the snow, but I'm glad it's over. Come on spring!

Traveling

This weekend we loaded and up and went to visit Kev. I spent the good part of Friday morning cooking our meals for the weekend/week. Red sauce chicken enchiladas. Personally I've always preferred cheesy enchiladas, but I came across this recipe for on the Skinnytaste Blog. They are very spicy, flavorful and surprisingly low-fat.  Poppy Seed Chicken. My best friend introduced me to this casserole (her mom makes it). This is the first time I've ever made it and used a couple of recipes I found online. It's so simple and I only hope it tastes as yummy as her mom's. Basically you mix two cups cooked chicken (again I always use rotisserie), a can of cream of mushroom soup, 16 ounces of sour cream (and again I used nonfat creek yogurt-Fage is my favorite), 3 teaspoons of poppy seeds, salt and pepper, and a small package of cooked egg noodles. For the topping melt 1/4 cup of butter and combine with about 30 crushed Ritz Crackers. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes and...

Turtles as Toys

The other day we were sitting on the porch and the dogs kept barking at something in the corner of the yard. So. I walk over to see what the fuss is about. They had a huge snapping turtle cornered. A little while later, I see Lilly darting across the yard and Hatfield chasing her. Well. She had the freaking turtle in her mouth!

Pool Time!

We spent the weekend at our friends' pool. We took the dogs with us Sunday so they could have a play date. M and B have to pit bulls that are so sweet. Nahla, the youngest one, loves to play! They were also puppy sitting the cutest beagle ever!  They absolutely love going places! They were waiting in the car while I was loading our things.  I've never been able to get Hatfield in the pool, but Lilly loves it. She started off just sitting on the steps and one day she just jumped in. So, now she jumps in every now and then to cool off. Kev mixed up refreshing peach mojitos (I guess I've had major peach craving lately) this weekend. I'd share the recipe but that's his job. I never really know what all goes into what I'm drinking. I just know it's delicious!
