MORE Snow Days and the Weekend

Winter seriously needs to go AWAY!!!!! We had another round of winter come through late Wednesday afternoon. Little Rock got a total of 5 1/2 inches. I think that two of those inches were ice and the rest snow. This will make eight days we have been out for inclement weather.  I was not as productive this time around as I have been the last two. We watched three movies. Lucy was one of them. It was kind of odd, but I liked it. Kev watched Foxcathcher. I didn't really get into it. We also watched the Skelton Key.  I messed up our pizza the other day and turned it into Stomboli. I made it on the cutting board since I was letting the pizza stone get hot. I thought it would slide off the cutting board, but it didn't, so I just rolled it up.  It still tasted great! We've  been cleaning out the fridge and freezer, so our meals have been interesting. I can't believe this time next week we will be in Ireland. We're so FREAKING excited! I have taken advantage of t...

Snow Day #6

I'm over it!! It's pretty but I'm over it!! We got a good 2 inches today. Luckily it didn't stick to the roads and hovered around freezing all day. We go to school tomorrow!! Another two day week.  I planned on cleaning out closets today but ended up doing this puzzle all day. I have about 1/3 left to do.  I really hope winter is over. We got both ice and snow. It's complete.

Snow Day #4 and #5

More snow days! UGH!! I'm over them! Sunday afternoon we to eat a late lunch/early dinner around 3:00. it started sleeting and snowing pretty heavily while we were there. I had even talked Ken into walking around Home girds with me after we ate. Instead we headed straight home. I remember too well last year when my parents and I were caught out in a snow storm .   It didn't really do much Sunday night, but they canceled school based on what was predicted to come Monday late morning. Kev ran a few errands and I set out to get paint to finish the hutch. While in Home Depot it started snowing pretty hard. I made it home just in time. By the way, the AWD Acadia is a beast on slippery roads.  I gave the hutch another coat of gray and painted the back red. I still need to get knobs. I was missing a few of the ones that were on it or I would just paint them black. I also mixed some black paint with the green I bought to make it a little darker for our dresser. I pa...

Snow Day # 3

A small snow storm came through last night. I woke up to an inch of snow. After school announcing last night that we would be open, this mooring they we were on a two-hour delay. I went ahead and got up at 5:30 and made coffee while I watched the news. A teacher friend and I were texting back and forth. By 7:30 the district had decided to close for the whole day. Since I was up I decided to build a fire and have my coffee. I did all of my school work yesterday, so today I will finalize our Ireland itenerary. The birds can finally get to some of their bird food. The sunrise. I love our land. We have some amazing views. The dogs love eating snow.

Snow Day

As predicted, we received an inch of ice.  I found this picture online. Today was parent/teacher conference day. Which means I would have had a workday and I had lots of work to do, but I've been wanting a snow day. The whole yard was a giant sheet of ice. Kev played with the dogs. Later that afternoon, we got bored and walked to the gas station about a mile away. I was not willing to get the Acadia out. Our street was a solid sheet of ice. It was fun to walk. The sunset was beautiful when we got back. This is the pasture our front yard overlooks. He was tired. I was productive during the day. I painted our hutch. I still need the red paint for the back panels. I also painted the drawers on our dresser teal. It was quite dark enough, so i am going to see if they can make it darker before I put on another coat. I didn't get any school work done toady, but I have a feeling that I will be stuck here again tomorrow.

And Another...

Ice day! Come on now it's March 3 and we received a good inch of sleet last night. They canceled school around 8:00. It's getting freaking ridiculous. I'm not sure how many days we have missed. There's been so many snow/ice days, some on the weekends and some during the week. We already go to school later than most, so this will put us going the second week in June. I really feel bad for Northern Arkansas where some schools have up to 20 days. They're even giving up their Spring Break! Anyways back to today... The high is 25 and the weather man just said that if we do not get above freezing today, this will be the coldest March day in history!!! Go away winter. I NEED warmer air and sunshine! Other snow/ice posts this winter: December  8 February 4 February 8 -9

More Snow!!!

Saturday morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow! We have three beautiful views on top of our little hill.  Two are of water. The other is the horse pasture in the valley. Our unfinished back of the house. Hopefully with temps about 40 this weekend we can get in done! The dogs loved the snow! They ran around like little kids. Lilly kept eating it. Pretty sure she was wondering where her water was. We came in to warm up by the fire. Everyone loves to lay with daddy. After a nice nap, we went back out to build a snowman and throw the occasional snowball. We had so much fun playing in the snow, but I'm glad it's over. Come on spring!

Icy Day!

As a teacher I love a good snow day. There's something about waking up and finding out you can go back to bed. So far I think we only have three days to make up, so that's not too bad. I'm sure I will be hating these days come June when I want to be outside enjoying the pool. Anyways,  I have done nothing all day but work my puzzle and watch TV. I did step out on the front and back porch and snap a few pictures of the trees. I also love that I can step out on the porch with just a tank top on and nobody can see. I loath wearing lots of clothes around the house.
