Beginnings of a Foundation

Dad started the foundation Monday! I went over there Monday after school, from what I could tell they measured the corners off and leveled out where the foundation will set.
Dad would smooth out the dirt and Armando would measure to see if the string was the same distance from the ground every few feet. They kept doing this until it was just right.
While dad smoothed dirt Armando unload the boards and other materials to set up the outline of the house. In the picture below, Dad is using the tractor to drag long steel rods off of the trailer.
Just a random picture of a saw.
Looking up the driveway from from the gravel drive. The whole drive inlined with firewood. Dad left me the materials to build a rack. I'm sure we will try to do that Sunday.
View from the front porch.
Today they set up the frame. I'm not sure what is it called. It's nice to finally see an outline of exactly what the house will look like and where it will sit on the property.
The next step is for the plumber to come out and run pipes and dad to set the footings. It's suppose to rain all day tomorrow, so that means they won't be able to Thursday (too  wet). Dad said he didn't want to start Friday in case they didn't finish. He doesn't want anyone to steal the piping for scrap money. So looks like Monday they will proceed!

The Crud

I feel like crud! I've blown my nose so much this weekend that my face is raw and red. I can't imagine how I have this much snot in me. Anyways. I didn't get my Thursday 3 miler in or my 9 mile long run this weekend. How can I run when I can't freaking breathe?!? I've been taking medicine and using my Nettie Pot, so here's hoping I feel like running towards the end of this week. So glad this is a short work week and a field trip on Wednesday. I NEED a break!!

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.
