House Exteriors

I spend most of my free time these days staring at the freaking computer looking for ideas for our house. There is a site Houzz. It's my new addiction. If you haven't ever explored it check it out. You can type in anything dealing with houses and get thousands and thousands of pictures to browse through. I look at EVERYTHING and pin the things I like on Pinterest. This makes it so easy to go back and review favorites. I have several boards dedicated to various rooms and the outside of the house. My focus these days is on the exterior. Hopefully in the next two weeks I will have a house pad and be ready to frame the house. I  know that I want a metal roof (not sure what color), cedar columns, stone, and cedar siding/shingles. not sure about color combination, how much siding or how much stone, and the front porch and walkway (the front yard will be pretty steep). I'm on Spring Break this week so I plan on visiting some lumber yards so I get a closer look at certain materials. I like to touch the things I purchase. I want to know what it freaking feels like. Anyways... Here are some of the things I have Pinned.

I want cedar beams in my eaves like these two houses.

So far I like these colors with the darker wood. I also like the colors in the one right above. I DO NOT want white trim! I do know that.

The Crud

I feel like crud! I've blown my nose so much this weekend that my face is raw and red. I can't imagine how I have this much snot in me. Anyways. I didn't get my Thursday 3 miler in or my 9 mile long run this weekend. How can I run when I can't freaking breathe?!? I've been taking medicine and using my Nettie Pot, so here's hoping I feel like running towards the end of this week. So glad this is a short work week and a field trip on Wednesday. I NEED a break!!

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.
