Beach Trip

Our trip to the beach was so relaxing! I woke up about 6:00 every morning and took our chairs and umbrella to the beach. If you wanted a good spot close to the water, you had to set up before the rental guys. Once everything was set up, I would get my coffee and have some quiet time on the beach. We always stay at the Hampton Inn and they have a wonderful breakfast buffet that we enjoyed each morning. Kev usually came down about 10:00 to join me. We stopped in the Wave store across the street and he bought a selfie stick. He loves that thing and we took tons of selfies. So warning... this post will have selfie overload. Friday Afternoon Beach Selfie About 3:30 Friday afternoon a storm with lots of lightning came out of no where. The umbrella rental guys frantically picked up umbrellas and chairs. We packed everything up and started taking things inside. We decided to leave the chairs and umbrella since there was no ways I could get them with the bags and ice chest. Kev was t

Beach Bums

We woke up before dark Thursday to head to the beach for a few days. We were on the road by 6:00. I wanted earlier but things happen. Anyways I drove so Kev could sleep. He's been working very long, hot days.  We arrived just in time for check-in. Kev has been using my Hilton Honors AMEX to purchase material and racked up enough points the last couple of months for a two night stay. We paid for One night. Since a gulfview room was $410 for one night and 240,000 points for the other two nights, we decided to go with inland room. We opened our door to a gulfview room. Just a little happy for us!  I woke up at sunrise and set up our spot on the beach. I love the beach in the morning!!  I see a beach nap in the future for this afternoon....

My Weekend

My parents were at the beach,so I stayed at their house over the weekend. It was nice to relax and hang by the pool all day Saturday. Katie was glad I  was  there.  Katie greeted me upon arrival. I guess my brother left her gate open.  She wasn't too happy to go back in later that night. I let her hang out with me all day.  In fact she ran upstairs when I tried to get her to go in the fence. I had to pick her up and carry her.  Sunday I met a friend at her parents house and we went for a boat ride. I sure wish Kev could have gone with me, but he needed to get things in order for our trip to the beach.

Garage Clean Up

I've been wanting to tackle the garage this summer, but knew it would take a good part of the day and it's so FREAKING HOT I wanted to do it early. It was a mess. Until Kev gets his shop, this is where we will store all of his crap! We have lived on a mud puddle for the last year and we finally got gravel for the whole drive. The garage was full of mud, dust, and dead beetles and I was tired of seeing it. Kev does a great job of keeping his stuff organized, but he has been working 14 hour days and just doesn't have time to worry with this kind of stuff right now. And since I am home for the summer I have 14 hours a day here, by myself and I get bored. I started by taking everything out. Well almost everything. I left the big stuff. You can see all the mud and junk on the floor. The stairs were also covered in a thick layer of dust. We have so much crap in there. My mom saved us a set of cabinets she took from her classroom. They bulldozer her school and everything in i

Night Stand Redo

I'm a member of a Facebook Group, Furniture and Big Stuff Only. Most of  the time I just keep scrolling , but every now and then something catches my eye. I have wanted new night stands for our bedroom. My night stand goes with a bedroom suite I had in high school and Kev's was a stand my brother built for DVD player and what not a long time ago. So when these came across my  Facebook feed I jumped on it. I wanted to paint them black with teal drawers to match the dresser and replace the drawer pulls with some that match the metal of dresser. I drove to Alexander to pick them up the next afternoon. They have been sitting in the garage since then. This morning I didn't have anything to do, so I pulled them out. I gave them a good wipe down. I didn't bother sanding them. None of the scratches were too deep and I always use paint and primer in one. I love them!!!! Here they are in the bedroom. I still have to tweak the decorations on them, but these will do for now.

Canning, Projects, Cooking, and Shopping

I got a bag of corn Saturday. A bag has somewhere between 80-90 ears. I usually use half of them for making corn relish. They other half goes in the freezer. Sunday morning I went to the store to get the other ingredients needed. My friend gave me more cucumbers Friday night, so I wanted to make bread and butter pickles too.  I have been busy canning all summer and I love it!! Sunday night once it cooled off, I tackled the garage door project. I found a link on Pinterest that showed how to use gel stain to redo your garage door so it looks like wood. I bough some a few weeks ago and have just been waiting until I had some time. I love the way it looks. I didn't take a before picture and don't feel like digging through albums looking for one. Before it was lighter brown and very dull. It looked like a regular metal garage door. I have carriage door handles and brackets to put on it once I get on the clear coat. I've been wanting new swim suits all summer and since we

And So the Week Begins...

Monday afternoon I took Lilly to the vet. She's always so shaky and tries to sit in my lap. Dr. Barron loves her and tells her every year how lucky she is to have found us. She is the oldest living dog he knows of with her sphincter condition. I can't believe she will be four in November! Everything check out great and the little pig even lost five pounds since last year. The garden is producing. I picked all of this Monday night. I'm going to have to make stuffed bell peppers. Next year I want more jalapeno and banana pepper plants so I can pickle my own. Kev goes through so many jars of them. Tuesday I drove to Hot Springs to visit with mom and help clean out some of my grandmothers things. They are having a huge yard sale this Saturday. I also went by to visit my grandpa. He has Chemo this week and I wanted to check on him. Wednesday I had to work until 3:30 and after that I ran to the store to get supplies for canning dill pickles. I have never done it before, b

The Rest of the Week and Weekend

Thursday I met a friend of mine that was putting Lilly's name on her diaper covers. They turned out so cute!! After that I rushed to Hot Springs to visit. It was my Papaw's birthday and we were taking him to dinner. I'm so fortunate to still have him in  my life and hopefully he will be able to meet our child one day. Friday I didn't have summer school and planned to get up and get moving early. Well.... That didn't happen. I slept until 11:00!!! I don't ever sleep late much less until lunch. It was a stormy day so my pool plans were canceled. I did manage to visit with a friend and her daughter for a little while. I clean house some and did laundry. Saturday morning I was up early to run to the grocery store. I needed a few things for banana pudding, my usual Forth of July dessert. Hatfield wanted to ride and since it was early, not hot, and I only had a few things to get I let him. Lilly is content laying around doing nothing all day! They are so oppo
