Children's Book Awards

Every year the Arkansas Reading Association hosts the Arkansas Children's book awards for the Charlie May Simon and Arkansas Diamond Book Award Winners. This year some of my favorite authors were there. Janet Stevens won the Diamond Book Honor Award for her book Little Red Pen and Andrew Clemetns won the Charlie May Simon Honor Award for Trouble Maker. I bought both of them and had them signed.

Debbie Diller is my most loved professional text author. She has written wonderful books on small group instruction as well as how to set up literacy work stations. I didn't have a book for her to sign because I already own all of them, but I still told her how wonderful she was and asked for a picture.

Friday afternoon was dreary and rainy. Some pictures of the  Arkansas River I took while waiting for a session.

Football Merchandise

A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...
