Dirt, Logs, Trash Piles

Saturday we moved dirt and cleaned up around the new house. There was still a little patch of ridge that needed to be cut down. Not sure why we didn't do it in the beginning, I guess dad was trying to save the big tree on top of it. The drive way will go straight up and to Kev's shop instead of curving around. It will give us more room. Anyways... His dad volunteered to move the dirt if we rented the back hoe.

I don't have a before picture, but here is the after. Basically before it was almost impossible to walk on this side of the house. Now we can, except at the very front. We still have lots of dirt to add there.

While Kev's dad did that, Kev and I cleaned up and stacked firewood.
This is the organized wood pile. Before it was a mound of trash and scrap wood. I sorted through and burned the trash and unusable wood and organized the good pieces. You never know when you might need a small board. I know they still have to build the form for the back porch and driveway and all the house form boards were in there.
We also stacked wood. My hamstrings hurt for two days! We did the front stack, the back one has been done for a few months. We still have enough wood piled up for another stack. Plus several more trees that need to come down. We are not in need of firewood!
The very dead poison ivy and brush! I even killed a tree. Oops!

The Crud

I feel like crud! I've blown my nose so much this weekend that my face is raw and red. I can't imagine how I have this much snot in me. Anyways. I didn't get my Thursday 3 miler in or my 9 mile long run this weekend. How can I run when I can't freaking breathe?!? I've been taking medicine and using my Nettie Pot, so here's hoping I feel like running towards the end of this week. So glad this is a short work week and a field trip on Wednesday. I NEED a break!!

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.
