Shooting Grades And Marking House Pad

Yesterday dad came up here to shoot some grades. If you aren't sure what this means, he used this little instrument to tell him how much he needs to cut the ridge down to make a level house pad. We also put stakes in the ground to show the corners of the house and where it will sit on the two acres. I have to meet the excavator out there this week and get a quote of leveling it off. Next weekend we will get the chainsaw and cut down the big trees!

Beware! This blog will probably become my house building diary.

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

Dogwoods

Sunday I inventoried our Dogwood Trees. We have 24 total. Some are just small bushes. There are probably about 12 big trees. I marked them so that when we are clearing brush later we won't kill them. My hope is to clear out some around them so they can all grow into large trees. They are absolutely beautiful to look at!!! I want to get some more pictures, but I got Poison Ivy on my legs the other day so I'm staying out of the woods for now.
