In This Crazy Life...

Birthday cupcakes from my mom.  It was just an ok day. We spent the night getting things ready for my grandmother's funeral. It's so hard to believe that all of my grandparents have passed away around my birthday. April 28, 2007 Scott  - We buried him on my birthday. A friend and I had a tripped to Dallas planned with tickets to a concert. She went on down and I flew out as soon as the service was over. I made it just in time for her to pick me up on her way to the venue. April 29, 2008 -Mamaw Terry  April 29, 2014- Mamaw Jo Betty Crazy, I know! Even crazier that both grandmothers were April 29. I just have to look at it as celebrating their lives every year along with mine. If not, I'd be depressed every year on  my birthday. Instead I can celebrate the many wonderful years that I was able to spend with them!

We spent the weekend camping at Lake Ouachita for my birthday! I absolutely love island camping. It's hard to do often unless you have easy access to a boat. My brother bought my grandmother's boat last year, so now we can borrow it anytime. I'm so ready for an SUV! We need the room. Kev's truck is a work truck and is not wextended cab. When we have the dogs with us, Lilly has to lay in the floorboard and hatfiled is in Kev's face. We arrived at Brady Mountain about 5:00, however the battery was dead and had to wait on Spence to bring us his other one. This put us getting out there a little later than we wanted, but we managed to quickly set up camp before we lost all daylight. The sunset on our way to the island.   We quickly realized the geese guarding the island and quacking at the dogs were trying to protect their eggs. This one survived. They cracked open the other one we found. The island had a nice grassy area with thtese beautiful purple

Some teachers and I threw Katie a shower at school. We decided on cookies and goldfish. I made these adorable oyster shell cookies. It's two cookies (I baked lemon) with icing piped in the middle. I looked and looked for pearls, but never found any. These are made of fondant. I think they turned out vey cute.

Sunday I inventoried our Dogwood Trees. We have 24 total. Some are just small bushes. There are probably about 12 big trees. I marked them so that when we are clearing brush later we won't kill them. My hope is to clear out some around them so they can all grow into large trees. They are absolutely beautiful to look at!!! I want to get some more pictures, but I got Poison Ivy on my legs the other day so I'm staying out of the woods for now. 

I have several random flower pots. Some are nice heavy pots and others are cheap plastic ones. They were all a shade of brown or terra cotta. Boring! I used the fabric from the pillows and this owl wind chime as color inspiration.  I spray painted all the pots today. I love them! All they need now are flowers. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow or sometime this week. I also gave this pedestal a fresh coat of paint. And this glass vase.  It's amazing what a difference some spray paint can make. Now I have all NEW pots and it only cost me $12 in paint!

I finally used the dog shower!! I love it! It's so much easier than having to coax them into the bathtub. Then once they are in there, having to fill up a large cup over and over in order to rinse them. Lilly jumped up with no problem. It is her bed and she likes it up there. Hatfield had to be bribed with turkey. Every dog owner should have a dog shower! Especially for large dogs.

I love eCards! Most are sarcastic, and true. While looking for some thank you cards at Target I found these. I love them, however you would have to have a very good relationship with the person you send them to because you wouldn't want to offend anyone.

The baby shower I had yesterday was a success and Miss Maebry received lots of goodies.  It was chilly last night so we decide to build a fire. There was a huge pile of boxes that need burning. We drove down the driveway a little ways and piled Kev's truck full of pine logs and branches. The fire burned for hours! There were still hot coals this morning. I'm just glad we were able to clean up some trees along the driveway. I told Kev we needed to do this every weekend. I drove to Pine Bluff this afternoon to attend my cousin's baby shower. She is due in four weeks! Once again no pictures. Today I was just tired from staying up til 1:30 last night and 12:30 Friday night! I just can't do that these days.

I may have mentioned before that I'm one of those people that have to always be doing something. I can't just sit and watch a movie or TV show. So I end up doing lots of puzzles in the iPad and browsing Pinterest. Here are some funny finds.... I thought this was hilarious!! This one is so me! I never wear pants around the house. Even in the winter. I usually don't even put them on to walk the dogs to their pen. Another reason I like not having close neighbors.  This one also screams ME! Kev even included a line in his vows about always making sure I'm fed when I'm hungry. He knows that I can transform into another person, as does anyone else who really knows me.
