Crystal Valley Music Festival

This weekend my neighbors had a music festival at their house. A real music festival! With hippies and camping. I really wanted to go check it out but never did. I noticed several cars there on my way home Friday. I just thought they might be having a little party. Later on after a short nap, I decided to go to the grocery store. To my surprise the cars had doubled. People (hippies) were hanging out in the street toting ice chests, chairs, and tents to the back yard. I even saw a few guitars. It reminded me of Bonnaroo or a going to a Wide Spread Panic show. It was almost ten by the time I got back from the grocery store. there were over 100 cars parked along the street and in the vacant lot at the end of the street. You could hear the music until about 12:30 and then they quieted down. I'm sure they stayed up way later.

I snapped a few pictures on my run Saturday morning. There were still about 30-40 cars at 7:00. Several people were packing up and leaving.
Their campground through the trees.
My neighbor across the street was out when I finished my run. He said they came knocking on doors Friday afternoon, informing the neighbors they were going to have a small music festival and gave a number to call if there was a problem. They didn't want us to call the Sheriff. I wasn't home and the dogs were in the yard, so I didn't get the memo. It's not like I would have called them in anyways. Like I said, I really wanted to crash the party.

It was just an odd thing to happen on our quiet, dead end road, outside of city limits.

The Crud

I feel like crud! I've blown my nose so much this weekend that my face is raw and red. I can't imagine how I have this much snot in me. Anyways. I didn't get my Thursday 3 miler in or my 9 mile long run this weekend. How can I run when I can't freaking breathe?!? I've been taking medicine and using my Nettie Pot, so here's hoping I feel like running towards the end of this week. So glad this is a short work week and a field trip on Wednesday. I NEED a break!!

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.
