Wedding Registry Shopping

So Kev was NOT going shopping with me for our wedding registry. I've knew this since before we even got engaged. When we would see a couple in Target with a scanner, I'd make reference to us doing that. He let me know that he would not be that guy following me around the store with a scanner. He doesn't really care what we get. I was told to register for what I wanted.

I set both of our registries up online before going into the store. I looked up a list of things to register for and made my list accordingly. I had five sections: kitchen, bath, bedding, cleaning/storage, and decorations ( I really have no idea about these until we get moved into the new house). So, I browsed these items online to see which store had the best product or price. He gave me input on things like bedding and dishes during these Internet surfing sessions. However, you can't tell everything online, so I wanted to browse each store and pick out things like sheets, towels, bath mats. You know Things you need to touch and feel. I asked my mother to go with me and of course she said yes.

We decided to meet last Monday after summer school. We went to Target first. Her job was to put a check by things I found and which store I found it at. My perfect list was written in pencil, categorized, checks by things I had already added to my registries and which store they were at. I asked her if she had a pencil. She didn't. I didn't. I had a small panic attack thinking about her writing on my list with a pen. What if I changed my mind? What if she messed up? I wouldn't be able to erase. Problem solved. We walked over to the school supplies and bought a pack of pencils. I felt much better. I know I have a problem.

While we were browsing my scanner went out, twice. The first time it stopped scanning, I walked all the way to the front and got another one. I scanned two more things and the second scanner went off.  I walkers back up there and the lady apologized and gave me my third scanner. Thank the Lord this one worked the rest of the time! She did give me two apology cards worth $3 when I returned my third scanner.

Our next stop was Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They wanted a lady to walk around with me, I let them know that I appreciated it, but I thought we could handle it. Having lived on my own for so many years and loving to cook, I have lots of kitchen stuff. Really nice and expensive kitchen stuff. I always get something like that for Christmas. If fact my Christmas usually consists of cooking things and money for clothes.

The last thing was bed pillows. It was getting late and we had been at it all afternoon. When it was time to try out pillows, I just laid on the floor and tried it out!
I'm so fortunate to have my mom by my side through all of this wedding stuff. I know many people who don't have the privilege or opportunity to spend time like this with their mom.

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

Floating the Caddo River

We floated the Caddo River with some friends Saturday. The scenery was beautiful and the water was flowing nicely. It took us a little over four hours and we only flipped the canoe once.  We came to some quick rapids and very low trees. While trying to duck under the trees, so our heads didn't get knocked off, we both leaned too far and there we went. Luckily everything was in dry bags and tied down. Well, almost everything. Kev was trying to put his phone back into the dry box but didn't get to it fast enough. His phone got wet, but seems to work ok after sitting in a bag of rice for a few days. I didn't have my shoes strapped tight so they slid off. A friend in front of us managed to grab one shoe and one paddle. We carefully walked the canoe across the rapid and dumped the water out. I will admit I was pissed off about my shoe. I didn't talk to Kev for awhile. I know it wasn't his fault, but I wanted to be mad at someone. He promised he would replace th
