8 Mile Run

I kept putting this run off because it was freezing Saturday morning, literally and we had to leave by 9:30 for the game. Sunday morning was in the thirties too, so I decided to wait til late afternoon. Dressed in my cold gear compression and a jacket, I set out. By mile 1 I was pulling up my leggings. I find if my ankles can get air I stay cooler. Mile 2 my jacket came off and mile 5 I pulled up my shirt so my stomach could get air. Guess it's not quiet cold enough for long clothes yet. I felt great the whole time! I know it's not my usual race time, but it's better than the 13 minute mile I've been averaging. Since this was my first long run and I ran faster than normal, I decided to take an ice bath. It keeps my muscles from being sore or should I say as sore the next day.

Cinna-Waffles

I got this idea from Pinterest. Waffles made from cinnamon rolls. I wanted to try them so I picked up some at the store. I got small ones so I put two on at a time. I cooked them a little longer than I would a waffle. For the icing I used the cream cheese icing that came with it and thinned it out with some milk and powdered sugar. They were pretty yummy!

Future Home

I've been totally obsessed with house plans. I have finally decided to leave the comfort of my rent house and get my own house. I absolutely love my rent house and landlords. They have been so good to me and taken care of whatever I have needed in the last 8 years. I kind of get sad about leaving my neighbors. I like most of them and my aunt and uncle live at the end of the road. Anyways. The land have found is absolutely perfect! It is on the bottom part of a ridge I have been telling Kev for the last year that I want to live on. There's a back road we drive down frequently to get to West Little Rock. It crosses over a ridge that has beautiful views. Well, this road is parallel to that road. It's at the very end of the street on top of a hill and backs up to a gated community's lake (Lake Florence according to Google Maps). So I will look out my kitchen window everyday and see a wooded area with a pond. No neighbors, well the houses on the other side of the pond in t

A Blast from the Past!

Sunday was my Aunt Donna's 60th birthday and it was a surprise. A month ago my Uncle asked mom and I along with her daughter-in-law to plan and organize everything. He just gave us the credit card and we had a blast using it. It's always more fun spending someone else's money. Right?  Anyways the theme was "Blast from the Past". We made all kinds of banners displaying pictures of her and popular people, songs, and shows during her lifetime. We decided it would be fun to have a photo booth set up and since it is Halloween season, we were able to find all kinds of fun props. Here are a few pictures from the photo booth. My CRAZY brother  My mom and her two best friends  Christian (Spencer's girlfriend's son) He loved it!  Kev and Me Aunt Donna and Uncle Mike (her brother)

Flowers and Holes

I've had two things I wanted to share since last weekend, however, I've had no motivation to write them. So. Here it goes... Sunday morning I was mopping the kitchen floor when I noticed that the air vent (mine are in the floor) was looking kind of nasty. I decided to take it out and soak in hot soapy water. Well... I went on cleaning and cooking, totally forgetting about the vent. I walked over to the coffee pot and BAM! I stepped right into the vent hole. I'm lucky I didn't twist or hurt my ankle/foot badly. I did get a few nice scratches and a bruise on my leg along with a cut on the bottom of my foot.  Just call me grace. It hurt to walk for a about three days until the cut on the bottom of my foot healed. So.I got behind on my running. I rained all day Saturday and well, i just told you about Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning. Hopefully the rain will go away. Backtracking to Saturday. I needed to go to Hobby Lobby to get some suppli

Running Out of Juice

Kev jokes with me because my phone is always dying. I rarely let it charge enough to get a full charge. I charge it long enough for a run or to play around on it again. My phone would die everyday if I didn't keep a charger at school. The other morning I got in my car and realized my gas light was on. Instead of it saying 28 miles to empty, it was flashing dashes. That means it's really low. Yes, I drive to work with it like that I realized I let everything run out of juice before I replenish it.

Lesson Plan Helper

I brought home my October box so that I could start planning for pumpkins and Halloween now that Hispanic Heritage is over. Perla decided she would help.

Slowly but Surely

I'm slowly getting my running stamina back! It makes me feel good to see my time getting faster and my mileage getting longer. Kev's hard headedness and my stubbornness caused a small tiff Sunday morning. So I went for a run. It's truly my therapy. I knocked out 3 miles with 11.30 minute average. I'd been averaging a 13 something minute mile. Nothing like a little frustration to make you runner faster. My plan is to knock out 5 miles this weekend and that become my short runs during the week. My first half marathon is December 1st.
