Gushing Water and Broken Pipes!

I came home today after running/walking for what seemed like three miles, but I'm sure it wasn't, in very hot and humid weather, ready for a shower. Instead I found my well gushing water. I noticed water all the way down the drive. I thought to myself surely it didn't rain on just one side of the driveway, maybe we left the hose on and the water has been running all day. NOPE! Water was gushing from the well! I stopped the truck and ran over to turn the water off before inspecting things closer. I noticed a huge branch on the ground. The branch had fallen on the pipes and broke them off. I tried and tried to call Kev and he didn't answer. Of course I'm freaking out! I'm extremely sweaty and want a shower and I have no water. I called my dad and asked exactly when he is going to bring the well house up and explained to him what has happened. (Last winter we had a make shift well house and with all the rain this summer it finally collapsed. It's not been a big deal until now.)

Kev finally answered the phone and I sent him these pictures. Luckily, we have a plumber friend. He came over when he got off of work and went with Kev to the store to get the pipes and fittings needed to repair everything. He glued everything back together and we visited while we waited for the glue to dry. Afterwards, we turned the water back on and all was well.

The Crud

I feel like crud! I've blown my nose so much this weekend that my face is raw and red. I can't imagine how I have this much snot in me. Anyways. I didn't get my Thursday 3 miler in or my 9 mile long run this weekend. How can I run when I can't freaking breathe?!? I've been taking medicine and using my Nettie Pot, so here's hoping I feel like running towards the end of this week. So glad this is a short work week and a field trip on Wednesday. I NEED a break!!

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...

Winter Weather Cancels Marathon

This weekend was supposed to be the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis. I signed up back in June and reserved my hotel. However, mother nature had other plans. We had a round of bad winter weather that left roads iced over for several days, so they ended up canceling the race. I checked and luckily my hotel will refund me my money, while others are not. Now, I was going to complete this race, but had I trained for it? No. I've been way too busy the past few months to take hours out of my dad and weekend to run. I had a house to finish and move into and a wedding to plan and attend. Anyways. I'm thinking about running the Nashville one in April. We will see. On another note the winter weather had us trapped on our hill for four days, before the temperatures reached 32 and the ice could melt some. Kev and I definitely enjoyed spending some quality time together and had a blast sledding.
