Power Outage

Christmas Day we had lots of ice topped off with snow. Our power went out about 4:00 that afternoon. Luckily, I had already made a huge pot of chili. About two hours later, it came back on just long enough for us to eat dinner and shower (since I have a well, I don't get water when there's not electricity). By 10:00 it was out again and that's the last time we had power.

I have a fireplace so keeping warm wasn't a problem. Kev split some wood and we were good to go. I pulled the camping cookware down from the attic. I cooked sausage, eggs, and toast for breakfast.

Warmed chili up for lunch. And made grilled chicken and cheese sandwiches for dinner.

I even pulled some cookie dough from the freezer and grilled cookie dough. We had to flip them like pancakes to cook them thoroughly, but they we delicious.
After sleeping on the mattress in front if the fireplace and still no power, we got the ok from his dad to bring all the animals out to his land. Kevs house is located behind his dads. So we packed up and headed out. Picture below. It is so nice to be able to take a hot shower and have heat. Last nights low was 20!

Layers of Blankets
Temperature with a roaring fire. Without it dropped 10 degrees.

 Loaded and ready to go.
Nothing like a hot shower and warm bed.

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

House Exteriors

I spend most of my free time these days staring at the freaking computer looking for ideas for our house. There is a site Houzz . It's my new addiction. If you haven't ever explored it check it out. You can type in anything dealing with houses and get thousands and thousands of pictures to browse through. I look at EVERYTHING and pin the things I like on Pinterest. This makes it so easy to go back and review favorites. I have several boards dedicated to various rooms and the outside of the house. My focus these days is on the exterior. Hopefully in the next two weeks I will have a house pad and be ready to frame the house. I  know that I want a metal roof (not sure what color), cedar columns, stone, and cedar siding/shingles. not sure about color combination, how much siding or how much stone, and the front porch and walkway (the front yard will be pretty steep). I'm on Spring Break this week so I plan on visiting some lumber yards so I get a closer look at certain materia...
