Staying Cool

So... I'm writing my first post on this blog and it's so freaking HOT! Not only outside but in my house too! The highs have been over 100 degrees the last three days, the animals don't even want to go outside! I bought the dogs a kiddie pool the other day and Lilly loved it, Hatfield not so much. Anyways it lasted all of one day before Lilly chewed a hole in the side. I  guess I need to buy them another one since it's so freaking hot, but I know it won't last long.

Lilly is 7 months old and rotten! I've had her since she was three weeks old. My brother's lab had puppies, 11 mind you. Well some things happened and he couldn't be at home to take care of Bella (his lab) and her 11 babies. So... they came to live with me and my two animals! All I can say is I had a house full. I'm glad Kev loves me and my animals! He never complained at all about the whining and all the chaos. And that's how I came to love Lilly. She was the sweetest of them all (at least to me she was). You may notice in the picture that she doesn't have a tail. Weird. Right? Several of the puppies  had a short stub but Lilly had no tail at all. Come to find out their bladder muscles are controlled by the nerve endings in the tail. You guessed it. She can't control her bladder! What does this mean? She wears a diaper around the house. I know! I know! What can I say I fell in love with her and was no way I giving her up just because of her little problem or making her stay outside. It doesn't seem to bother her to wear a diaper. She knows when she comes in she has to go to the laundry room and she lets me put it on her. So that's the story of Lilly. I'm sure you will hear plenty more about her, Hatifield, and Perla if you come back and visit!

By the way... She and Perla love each other!

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

Floating the Caddo River

We floated the Caddo River with some friends Saturday. The scenery was beautiful and the water was flowing nicely. It took us a little over four hours and we only flipped the canoe once.  We came to some quick rapids and very low trees. While trying to duck under the trees, so our heads didn't get knocked off, we both leaned too far and there we went. Luckily everything was in dry bags and tied down. Well, almost everything. Kev was trying to put his phone back into the dry box but didn't get to it fast enough. His phone got wet, but seems to work ok after sitting in a bag of rice for a few days. I didn't have my shoes strapped tight so they slid off. A friend in front of us managed to grab one shoe and one paddle. We carefully walked the canoe across the rapid and dumped the water out. I will admit I was pissed off about my shoe. I didn't talk to Kev for awhile. I know it wasn't his fault, but I wanted to be mad at someone. He promised he would replace th
