Hot Air Balloon Festival

Last week I was in training all day every day at the Crown Plaza hotel. During one of my many breaks I noticed a flyer up for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. Earlier that morning I had noticed a few trucks in the parking lot with baskets in the back. Well, I've always wanted to go to a balloon glow, but of course we usually don't have things like that around here. So I convinced Kev this is how we needed to spend our Saturday night. It was hot, but not near as hot as it is now, and not only did they sale good beer but wine too! Boy am I glad because we did A LOT of waiting! The schedule said that it started at 6:00 with a balloon ascension and then the balloon glow at dusk. Technically we weren't there right at 6:00 but we were parking.  We never saw a balloon rise, they weren't even blowing them up yet. Needless to say we sat in the lawn and consumed a few beverages while we waited.. and waited.

Finally at 7:30 they started inflating them!

Most of the balloons just required one person pulling as it inflated, some required two. This man looked as if he was having a hard time holding it in place. It kept pulling him. He was using the truck as leverage.

So this was our city's first Hot Air Ballon Festival. We enjoyed ourselves and we will probably go back next year. Hopefully they will stick to the schedule, but if not at least there's beer and wine!

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

Ballyseede Castle

Tralle was a good stopping point from Dingle to Doolin. When looking for places to stay I came across the Ballyseede Castle Hotel. It was a little pricey, but since we had such great deals on all of the other B&Bs, I splurged. It's one of the best known Castle Hotels in Ireland, has a history dating back to the 1590’s and sits on 30 acres of native woodlands. The castle has 23 en-suite bedrooms and 3 beautiful private rooms complimented by enchanting formal gardens. To read about the history of the castle click here. We stayed in the Coghill room.   We had a nice view of the gardens. Here are other pictures from inside the castle. We had to have our picture made with the knights.   We Googled and found a restaurant in town that was supposed to be delicious. It was nestled on the shore overlooking the bay. We arrived about 5:30 and watched the sunset. The food was fabulous, however the service was not. ...
