I Can't Believe It's Been One Year!

We've been trying to go camping for weeks now and there is always something that comes up. That being said we decided to spend our anniversary weekend camping. We tries to stay at Mount Magazine last year, however all of their cabins were full. When I called last week they had one campsite left.  We borrowed the popup from Kev's dad. He has told us we can basically have it. I've been looking up camper remodels on Pinterest. A fresh coat of paint on the cabinets and new curtains will give it a much needed updated look. There is really nothing wrong with the inside now. Camper manufacturers just use the ugliest of material!

The mountain driving in.
By the time we got there and set up, it was almost dark. We gathered some wood and built a small fire. our campsite was handicapped accessible so the fire pit was waist high.
There was a nice deserted road on the backside of the campgrounds. I took the dogs for a walk each mooring and let them wander in the woods off their leash. Our dogs are NOT leash dogs. They will not go to the bathroom if they are on a leash, so we always have to find a place they can roam a bit. The leaves were absolutely beautiful!!
Sunrise through the trees!
Of course we lounged around in the hammocks.
Hatfield is such a daddy's boy.
Saturday afternoon we went hiking. This trail took you to the highest point in Arkansas. The elevation at the starting point was 2,600 feet and 2, 753 feet at the top.
There was a flagstone outline of the state of Arkansas at the top. It was hard to get a good picture of it.
The Cameron Bluff overlook was right behind the campsite. A short walking trail through the woods led right to it.
I loved all the cliffs and rocks.
We drove along the deserted road and collected firewood. Well… Kev collected firewood and I ran the dogs. I'm not allowed to far into he woods because I ALWAYS come out with Poison Ivy.
Dinner over the campfire: Bacon cheeseburgers and grilled corn on the cob.
Since we stayed at a campground, we decided to only use one string of rope lights.
Sunday morning we had a wonderful breakfast accompanied by wedding cake and champagne!
Afterwards, we walked to the amphitheater. It resembles ruins from ancient Rome. I learned that it was used  in the early 1900s for sunrise church services.
The grass is so tall that you can't really see the crumbling rocks that were once seats.

They were setting up chair for a wedding.
This looked out over the Petit Jean Valley.

Football Merchandise

It's football season and Walmart has all their Razorback merchandise out. I was browsing the aisle the other day and saw these. I immediately thought whiskey! A great way to sneak liquor into the stadium. Of course the back says intended for water only. Yeah right! No one looks at this and says water.

And a Roof

They finished the roof up today! Back of the house. Front of the house. They use these to hold the plywood together.

Floating the Caddo River

We floated the Caddo River with some friends Saturday. The scenery was beautiful and the water was flowing nicely. It took us a little over four hours and we only flipped the canoe once.  We came to some quick rapids and very low trees. While trying to duck under the trees, so our heads didn't get knocked off, we both leaned too far and there we went. Luckily everything was in dry bags and tied down. Well, almost everything. Kev was trying to put his phone back into the dry box but didn't get to it fast enough. His phone got wet, but seems to work ok after sitting in a bag of rice for a few days. I didn't have my shoes strapped tight so they slid off. A friend in front of us managed to grab one shoe and one paddle. We carefully walked the canoe across the rapid and dumped the water out. I will admit I was pissed off about my shoe. I didn't talk to Kev for awhile. I know it wasn't his fault, but I wanted to be mad at someone. He promised he would replace th
